It’s time to announce this year’s chosen charity for our Charity week at Happy Kids
In September of each year Happy Kids has its Charity Week. During charity week the children and teachers actively raise awareness for a charity or cause and in doing so also help the children work towards an important part of the preschool curriculum which is how they should be aware of and understand people in different circumstances to themselves.
For our chosen charity this year we have decided we will be supporting The Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation. This was a suggested charity that came up many times when we asked parents of our preschools in a parent survey last term. Cancer is an illness that sadly many of us know of and as such it is also a topic that some of our children at the preschool naturally have questions about. We hope that by talking about cancer (and sickness in general) on a level that the children can understand we can show them that by working together and by raising awareness we can hopefully stand a better chance of society beating it.
We will naturally approach the subject in a sensitive manner and our aim will be to spread hope rather than spread worry. During the years we have had children at the pre-school who one way or another have been effected by cancer or other sicknesses and we hope that the work and material we do and produce during this week will be of benefit to the children at Happy Kids both now and for many years to come.
Last year we managed to raise 13000kr for our chosen charity ActionAid and we hope that with your support we will be able to raise a similar amount this year for The Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation.
If you have any ideas of things we can do during our charity week or if you would like to help in any way then please contact Sofia Lerjéus our Head of the Preschool at email@example.com
Our Charity Week will take place during week 39 (26th to 30th September).
