The UN-day is a new celebration in Sweden and has become one of the official flag-days in our country. It has become an important celebration in schools and wants to help children understand that we are a part of a bigger community and our possibilities to stand up for our rights. The day is founded to focus on the UN universal declaration of human rights. The declaration is a milestone document of the world history and its main subject is that all people in the world have fundamental human rights that are universally protected.
The day is celebrated at Happy Kids with international flags and discussions about our world. A few weeks prior to the celebration we work with the Kompis books and the books about the Convention on the Rights of the Child by Linda Palm.
